HOW TO WIELD POWER

DeSantis suspends all local COVID-19 emergency orders

Gov. DeSantis signed several executive orders to immediately suspend and eventually invalidate by July 1 all local emergency orders related to COVID-19.

This includes local mask mandates and curfews.

Although the governor was met with enthusiasm during his news conference in St. Petersburg on Monday, some local leaders say they were blindsided by the announcement, and fear it undermines their authority to protect residents.

By which they meant protect their newly created powers, which they are loathe to release. The New York Times admits this when it wonders just what will “restore normalcy”. Good grief! It is only their acts that took normalcy away. Our rulers use our own hands to smack us with while saying “Stop hitting yourself.”

How many times have we seen these kind of compilations, in which our rulers and their leeches (media) repeat the same phrases verbatim?

Remind me again what a “conspiracy theory” is.

CULT OF THE MASK

Paper by Kai Kisielinski and a slew of others asks “Is a Mask That Covers the Mouth and Nose Free from Undesirable Side Effects in Everyday Use and Free of Potential Hazards?

Before reading, guess the answer!

Le Abstract (with my added paragraphification):

Many countries introduced the requirement to wear masks in public spaces for containing SARS-CoV-2 making it commonplace in 2020…For a quantitative evaluation, 44 mostly experimental studies were referenced, and for a substantive evaluation, 65 publications were found. The literature revealed relevant adverse effects of masks in numerous disciplines. In this paper, we refer to the psychological and physical deterioration as well as multiple symptoms described because of their consistent, recurrent and uniform presentation from different disciplines as a Mask-Induced Exhaustion Syndrome (MIES).

We objectified evaluation evidenced changes in respiratory physiology of mask wearers with significant correlation of O2 drop and fatigue (p < 0.05), a clustered co-occurrence of respiratory impairment and O2 drop (67%), N95 mask and CO2 rise (82%), N95 mask and O2 drop (72%), N95 mask and headache (60%), respiratory impairment and temperature rise (88%), but also temperature rise and moisture (100%) under the masks. Extended mask-wearing by the general population could lead to relevant effects and consequences in many medical fields.

Here’s the list of negative effects, documented across many papers (from their Figure 2, which I wish was a Table): lowered O2, uppered CO2, increased humidity and temp, increased breathing resistance, increased respiratory rate, increased blood pressure, cerebral vasodilation, increased heart rate, respiratory impairment, exhaustion and fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, psycho-vegetative effect (my favorite), decrease in empathy (brother!), itch, skin irritation, acne, rhinitis, voice disorder, false sense of security (ahem), bacterial contamination, fungal contamination, and, the best for last, viral contamination.

Even ignoring the wee p-values, the result are obvious. Masks are a cult. Don’t think so?

The designation is used by them, too.

GAY

If you watch this video to the end you will become possessed by demons.

VEXED

Key quotation from the thread:

The cynical excision and replacement of public debate with machine-precisioned propaganda should be enough for anyone who is not psychopathic: look, you’ve already won, you control both the “measurements” and the belief *in* the measurements

The fact they still feel the need to take that second step—the one that then declares you a criminal for disagreeing with them—is the clearest possible evidence that this regime’s chief concern isn’t “freedom,” “democracy,” or even science

Their own obsession with certain words reveals the only things that matter to them: power, and oppression.

The ruling powers manipulate the former away us so that they are most free to wield the latter against us. Once is coincidence. Always, it’s exposed as the rule.

In that thread, Shyte linked to a Nature (the political journal) “COVID vaccines: time to confront anti-vax aggression“.

Aggression.

One poster summarized: “This article in Nature, published yesterday, essentially calls for ‘anti-vaccine groups’ to be dismantled and treated by the law like terrorists and cyber criminals.”

Indeed, the propaganda piece ends thus:

Accurate, targeted counter-messaging from the global health community is important but insufficient, as is public pressure on social-media companies. The United Nations and the highest levels of governments must take direct, even confrontational, approaches with Russia, and move to dismantle anti-vaccine groups in the United States.

Efforts must expand into the realm of cyber security, law enforcement, public education and international relations. A high-level inter-agency task force reporting to the UN secretary-general could assess the full impact of anti-vaccine aggression, and propose tough, balanced measures. The task force should include experts who have tackled complex global threats such as terrorism, cyber attacks and nuclear armament, because anti-science is now approaching similar levels of peril. It is becoming increasingly clear that advancing immunization requires a counteroffensive.

Anti-science is now approaching similar levels of peril as nuclear armament.

The totalitarian impulse of the debased left who demand those who won’t be vexed be punished as criminals is to be noted. It’s not, I think, the coronadoom is anything special to them. It’s that they do not like having their ideas questioned. Questions are blasphemy. They will not be disobeyed.

Incidentally, the hack who wrote that piece has earlier on in it this: “I experienced sinking feelings during our Zoom calls.” Zoom is just as gay as the video above.

Is it appropriate the music to this is The Final Countdown?

There are certainly, as with most (all?) vaccines side effects. The problem is tracking them. There appears to be great reluctance to do that here. Nevertheless, evidence is accumulating. One doc says 70% with J&J vex have side effects. We’ll do more on this next week.

WALK IT BACK

This is nice to see, but it’s unlikely to have much effect. Another cold front is coming through mid-week.

TEN LITTLE INDIANS

The latest panic is India. We saw earlier a bunch of faked photos showing dead bodies on the street and a lady sucking O2 from a tank, but all came from years previous. The leeches the oligarchs employ to push propaganda aren’t the brightest. But, one is forced to admit, they are effective. Raging surges, surging rages, breaking points, etc. being blasted everywhere.

Look at this (type ‘india coronavirus deaths’ into the Google):

India never got the typical winter peak, you can see, having only a minor number of deaths, relative to the population before. They’re thus getting their first real look at the bug, and so attributed deaths are going up. Three thousand is a lot of bodies, to be sure, but India has 1.37 BILLION people. That’s a rate of 2.7e-06 (today), against the USA’s 2.1e-06 (though since the US is in the regular cycle now, that rate is decreasing).

Anyway, isn’t panic fun?

THE NUMBERS

Sources: CDC State data (source), CDC official toll number one, number two (the old weekly file, now suspect). Causes of death (source). Deaths by age. Covid & flu. WHO flu tracker. All current as of Monday night.

Daily tests (in very light brown) and positivity (blue) from Johns Hopkins.

Recall, as the panic ends, there will be fewer tests. Only mostly the sick will get tested, and so test positivities will rise. Do not re-panic over this obvious consequence. Plus, ignore the blue line. It’s a model, not the data. Tests went down a teeny tiny bit. Not enough. The panic is still among us.

Remember how Experts told us—promised us—of the coming Texas & Florida apocalypse when they ended their mask mandates?

Top row: northern states with mask mandates. Bottom row: southern states without mask mandates. Mask mandates do nothing. Weather does much (well, weather drives much behavior).

Show mask fanatics this graph. See if they see it. They will not. Religious belief in the cult of the mask is a powerful filter.

CDC weekly ALL CAUSE death counts, or the Perspective Plot, from late 2009 until now. The late drop off is late counting: it takes up to eight weeks to get all data. We need to look at all cause deaths because we can’t quite trust the attributed COVID numbers.

The black line is deaths of any kind. The red is COVID. The blue line is flu+pneumonia (it’s the pneumonia that kills most flu patients). The blue is estimated starting mid year 2020 because CDC stopped separate reporting on flu. The suspicion is some flu and pneumonia deaths are being attributed to COVID.

Deaths from all causes are down from what we’d expect this time of year. Perhaps the most vulnerable died a little early last year. (This sentence will shock those who think death is impossible for themselves, even under government or expert protection.)

Here is the CDC deaths “involving” COVID.

I asked last week: Still panicking? Why? For what reason? Anybody have answers? Anybody?

Here is another way to look at all deaths, the week-of-the-year all-cause deaths. This is BIG because it’s so small.

Green line is 2021, red is 2020. The dotted line are all cause deaths minus COVID. That means the 2020 deaths that look out of place (above the mass of other lines but below the dotted line) are deaths caused by the panic.

By late 2020 we had got used to the panic, and many who would have died this time of year had already died, and so most of the excess deaths were doom deaths. And we’re now past all reason for panic. Except people find it difficult to let go.

More proof is had in this, the weekly counts of various causes of death.

Note the different y-axis scales. Drop offs at ends due to reporting delays. Notice next the spikes around April 2020 of everything from Alzheimers to septicemia. These are panic-caused, likely iatrogenic deaths. E.g. NY and nursing homes. That’s what freaking out does. Panic kills. The January spikes in all deaths is quite normal, as we know.

One thing that stands out as deeply suspicious is the smoothness of the COVID only deaths. Whereas everything else is rough and bouncy. Also quite odd are the Unclassified, whose official name is “Symptoms signs and abnormal clinical and laboratory findings not elsewhere classified”. Notice these are increasing as total deaths are dropping, even below expected numbers.

Flu is still missing. Though this is the time of year, in the northern hemisphere, where we expect to be low (but not zero). Here is the WHO’s global flu tracker:

Flu is still gone the whole world over. For almost a full year now. Yes. A year without flu. Astonishing.

You can see Swine Flu, which started at an odd time, and which caused a minor panic. And you can see where flu vanished into … where exactly? Hello? Hello The Science believers? Where?

They will say the lockdowns caused flu, but not COVID, to disappear. No, sir. This argument forgets the many places that never locked down or had mask mandates, and which also had no flu. Like Japan etc.

Here is the CDC official population mortality rates for the all causes other than COVID, and “involving” COVID (with and of; “involving” is CDC’s word).

Explain to me, referencing this data, why kids need to be vexxed?

POPULATION FATALITY RATES
                 Age COVID OtherCause
1 Under 1 year 0.0000170 0.00630
2 1–4 years 0.0000022 0.00027
3 5–14 years 0.0000024 0.00017
4 15–24 years 0.0000200 0.00100
5 25–34 years 0.0000810 0.00190
6 35–44 years 0.0002300 0.00300
7 45–54 years 0.0006600 0.00530
8 55–64 years 0.0016000 0.01200
9 65–74 years 0.0039000 0.02400
10 75–84 years 0.0097000 0.05700
11 85 years and over 0.0260000 0.17000

A reminder that these are from totals, and so represent the closest thing to lifetime population fatality rates. Anyway, the risk is so small for the young there is no reason to panic. None.

I have to see my doctor this week because I have to get a prescription filled. He’s a complete pod person. Wears a mask and a face shield and tells me not to get in restaurants. I hate him. I’m torn between lying to him and telling him I already got it so he won’t push it on me or saying I’m waiting for FDA approval. Any suggestions?

  6. Breaking news – this just in from the Salk Institute. COVID/SARS spike proteins damage blood vessel cells all by themselves, no virus needed. COVID/SARS is primarily a vascular disease that transmits through the lungs. That’s why it causes pneumonia in so many cases. And the “vaccines”, which contain or force your body to produce massive amounts of spike proteins, cause death by blood clots.

I didn’t exactly read this bit in your link – is that your inference?

My inference if any care to comment?

Is that why the anti-malaria medicine(s) work or could work given proper protocols?

Whitney (above), you should fire your doctor. Seriously anyone who believes in this idiocy at this point should be completely ignored, especially if they claim to be in the medical field. If they believe in magic talisman’s, that’s great, but I don’t want them overseeing my medical. I’ve already fired a dentist. (have to wear mask from front door to chair. are you insane? walked out) and just now a veterinarian. (can’t go with animal at end of life unless you have gotten the not-vaccine. yeah, fired).

Honestly at this point, there are many industries that have been completely exposed at fraudulent in the last year and medical of all types is up there. Most of the sick care industry should be ignored.

It’s NOT really YOU … It’s those pesky Russians again …

Investigations by the US State Department and the UK Foreign Office have described how Russian intelligence organizations seek to discredit Western COVID-19 vaccines. One campaign implies that it could turn people into monkeys. This builds on a longer, well-documented history of Russia-sponsored disinformation, presumably to destabilize the United States and other democratic countries. The administration of US President Joe Biden has warned Russian media groups to halt their anti-vaccine aggression, and announced sanctions tied to disinformation and other behaviour, but we need much more.

Actually, I can handle the Mr. Biden better than the Mr. Fauci
Biden’s actually comes across as parody/satire
The Mr. Fauci seemed totally real

  11. I recommend people research Hope-Simpson seasonality. These vary by virus type and local climate, that is, epidemic virus seasons are different in the tropics and subtropics compared to the mid-latitudes and sub-polar regions.

One size does not fit all.

In addition, be aware that viruses with seasonal epidemics still have reservoirs and local outbreaks during the rest of the year where they are not epidemic. Eventually, they become endemic and may have repeated annual epidemics in the future depending on human nature and environmental factors.

That said, masks need to go, yesterday. Mass vaccination campaigns may be useful; but there will be folk who should not take them. Governments and most businesses should never mandate them for this particular virus. Folk who work in medical care, for the most part, should get them where the risk/benefit support the decisions.

Dear Whitney, Ask your doc if he thinks the Covid-19 ‘vaccine’ either Moderna or Pfizer flavor is actually a vaccine. In other words, does it convey immunity to you and prevent transmission from you to others. If he’s honest and well-informed he’ll have to agree it’s not a true vaccine.

So what is it? It’s a treatment. OK, but have you got covid-19? No. (PCR test at max 34 cycles.) So why treat it before you get it. Tell the doc you wouldn’t want to put the cart before the horse.

And if you should ever contract covid-19, you might ask him if there are other treatments, like ivermectin or the hydroxychloroquine regimen successfullt employed in NYC six months ago.

You might also ask him about the dreadful side effects folks are experiencing, 3,500 (and more) to fatal effect. Great discussion on the fatal and neurological side effects and the medical-establishment fraud, interview of Dr. Peter Hoffe, here: “Canadian Doctor Blows the Whistle on the Deathvaxx,” http://www.theeponymousflower.com/2021/04/canadian-doctor-blows-whistle-on.html

In any case LGC’s advice is certanly good too. Chuck the doc.

    Repeating what you said.

When we speak about handling this much like flu, as so many who don’t understand keep saying SHOULD have happened all along?

That is what is meant. Thee are no guarantees in medicine.

In India, bodies are burned in the same way and within a certain time after death.
    The pictures are real.
    There is footage, not ‘photos’

“tiny fires”. are burned every evening by many who sit at the road side even at a fire as a kind of constitutional.
Travelling through Delhi in the evening, the air is thick with smoke. That’s without Covid.

If someone saw tiny fires they saw roadside mini bonfires.

  15. Joy

    As for masks? (to dquarles)
the decision was made a while back when we first discovered that measures were not working in telling the public to be “clean” and to “distance”. just wasn’t going to work.

When you travel on a London tube in rush hour you may well have your nose nestled into someone’s arm[it or be within coughing spluttering distance.

That’s just one example, and here are many.
Masks protect the other person in the main and hence the blanket mandate means although many won’t comply as is their God given right, most will, and en mass the spread is reduced.

It also acts like a kind of discipline, aid memoire, which I liken to
    “elephants on parade”

I was like many of you but I’m happy to join in even though like everybody else, I think it’s going to happen to someone else, not me.

Get on with it and stop moaning

  16. Milton Hathaway

“Plus, ignore the blue line. It’s a model, not the data.”

I’m still not buying it. The blue line is no more or less a model than the very light brown bars. One is a total over a week, the other is a total over a day. Why is the daily total “data” where the weekly total is a model? I’m just not seeing any meaningful distinction. If they announced hourly tests, would that then make the daily tests a model? Am I being pedantic? You bet. But after seeing the distinction made here so often, I’m thinking that there’s something important I might be missing (which, btw, might help explain why so much of this blog goes way over my head). In my mind, there is no pure measured data in the real world, it has to come from a measuring instrument, and every real-world measuring instrument implements a model based on assumptions.

  17. Simon Platt

    Dear Milton,

I think our host calls the blue line “a model” because it’s a running average, not an actual aggregate – not a total over a week. I don’t think I’d agree with his description, because I think a model needs some predictive power (or at least to have someone willing to assert that it does), but I think that’s the simple answer to your perplexity.

(For example, the blue line is liable to tell you that there were so-many tests … and a quarter, which could hardly be a measurement.)

One way to define a conspiratorially minded person would be someone describing wearing of a mask as a cult
    thinking that:
Vaxination is some kind of ‘scarromanger’ type plot!

Whitney – Find a new doc. Any doc wearing a face shield in addition to a mask all the time is not trustworthy! He’s either willfully ignorant or a willing regime dupe pushing propaganda on patients. Either way, not good.

Those Twitter posts prove what everyone with any sense has known all along – masks are about signalling which team you’re on and support of the current regime since Jan 20, nothing to do with real health or safety. I bet if Trump had come out as a big mask supporter early on, the Dems would now be the most anti-muzzle people around.

Anyone seen this clip from a TV show that apparently finished filming in late 2019, just days before Gates’ Event201 kicked-off? Basically just throwing the Agenda in peoples’ faces…and yet so many are still so brainwashed by the regime propaganda and refuse to wake up to the reality of what is being done to the world in the name of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2QNnoqc3XU&feature=emb_imp_woyt

Or how about this quote from famous French intellectual Jacques Attali from 1981! Basically outlines the blueprint for a planned “pandemic” in the name of population reduction (which has also been a big Gates family obsession for decades). Malcom, personal attacks aren’t an argument.

Surely this will be true if you just say it enough! Saying things makes them true!

No that’s a fallacy as you and I know but then so is calling people who wear a mask cultists or whatever other pejorative you like, simply an attack at the person and not the argument or the facts.
Repeating lies is simply repeating lies though

The blogposts here are often a lesson in fallacies when they are political matters

Whitney, find a better song to sing, your Dr doesn’t care if you hate him.
Tell him if you like, he might surprise you

Wearing masks and shields depends on the environment and the local epidemic.
Ask your Dr. Or better still, go to a different one and ask them!

  24. Joy

Yours, like so ma y others are simply displays of temperament not even political bias.
Plenty of people wearing masks know their own risks are low and that of their spreading it to others.
Plenty of people are better informed than what can be gleaned from newspapers and fake publications
who simply help to stir a witches brew of a storm in a teacup.

  25. Joy,

Why are you talking to me about personal attacks? I don’t care. I didn’t make them.

Let me be clear: You have no argument. All you do is cultishly repeat the mantra that masks work, over and over again (yep, I said the word “cultishly”, because that is hoe you sound). You are embarrassingly bad at arguing your point, because you can’t argue it.

We have produced paper after paper, statistic after statistic, all pointing to the inescapable conclusion thst masks don’t work.

I know that you SAY they work. Nobody cares. The facts don’t back you up.

  26. Plenty of people wearing masks know their own risks are low and that of their spreading it to others.

Oh well if they KNOW that chsnges everything!

Here’s me thinking that science depended on observation. Silly me. Turns out it depends on what I KNOW, deep in my heart.

But there’s a problem. I KNOW they don’t work. Guess that argument is toast.

  27. JOy

Here’s some. different working for the ones playing word games and legalese gymnastics:
Mask wearing (*by decree mandate, or blanket recommendation), is intended to act as a prevention for those carrying and breathing out virus in to the air from doing so in high numbers. It is also an aid to remind those who are not careful, which is most people, to stay at some distance from others.

It does not stop spread by hand to face touching.
Wearing a shield prevents eyes from being open to receive the virus from others, patients or customers, even when there is a mask on. So the two are working differently and they are intended to have different impacts.

Staff in ITU are wearing both.
That environment is a place where patients are unable to do anything but cough @ you, and hard.
Early studies in hospitals and care homes as well as domestic settings showed that it is difficult to detect virus in the air but that it is detected on surfaces where it lands and where it is physically deposited by infected or contaminated individuals

“The mask argument has been raging for fifteen years, before Covid 19”
I recall it with Sars 1

This time the argument’s are out of all preportion.

  28. Joy

What are you talking about Malcom?
The point, which you seem to have missed is that as I described, people are wearing masks as a ‘rule’.
(for the moment forgetting those who don’t, or refuse or whatever)

The idea or the purpose as described in part, is to catch the few by making the masses do the same thing.
    Unfair? yes

Are you saying that masks have no effect whatsoever in any case whatsoever?
Only that would have to be your claim in order that your responses to me make sense.

  29. Joy

You, Malcom, are a credit to William Briggs these days

can you in a few short word explain your own argument because Paper after paper doesn’t cut the mustard

One of the problems with making a political argument out of a disaster is that there are more than just clinical or laboratory considerations when dealing with human behaviour

Ordinarily Briggs is showing how “studies that show’ don’t show.
Yet when it suits his requirements, the same kinds of media are all that’s required to ‘show’ and lots of them, too, apparently!

  30. Mask wearing (*by decree mandate, or blanket recommendation), is intended to act as a prevention for those carrying and breathing out virus in to the air from doing so in high numbers. It is also an aid to remind those who are not careful, which is most people, to stay at some distance from others.

Right, yes, that is definitely what masks are SUPPOSED to do. Why are you telling us this like we don’t know? Everyone knows that they are SUPPOSED to do. The issue is that they DON’T do that.

can you in a few short word explain your own argument

It has been explained to you over and over again, time after time, in detail with charts and graphs. That you pretend it hasn’t been isn’t my fault.

This is your MO. You play dumb, ignoring everything we say, then when we get fed up with your dumb act, you call us all mean and call us out for making personal attacks. It’s shameful behavior.

Are you saying that masks have no effect whatsoever in any case whatsoever?

I am saying the masks have no discernible effect in preventing disease, or rather, every paper and study on the topic has revealed this fact to us. I wouldn’t be saying it otherwise.

You, Malcom, are a credit to William Briggs these days

This is, in fact, a compliment; that you don’t realize that is the problem.

Why does the slate have to be cleaned on a weekly basis?

I have no idea why you linked to a blog post that agreed with every point I am making; I encourage everyone to read that post, as it supports my point, not yours.

  31. Joy

Where were you Malcom? You forgot that one

I don’t play dumb. You keep saying it though. I play a few other things but not dumb, I must just BE dumb!
Nor did I say what you quoted me as saying in your last comment, so,
the shameful behaviour is all on your part

So you are changing the goal posts about the claim on masks, too?

    Finally!
“am saying the masks have no discernible effect in preventing disease, or rather, every paper and study on the topic has revealed this fact to us. I wouldn’t be saying it otherwise.”

Yes I guessed you thought you had a reason to be frustrated

    No “discernible” effect!
Tell that to the ITU staff

  32. Where were you Malcom? You forgot that one

??? What on earth are you going on about? Yes, there is another paper supporting my point.

    I don’t play dumb/

I simply do not believe that you haven’t read any of the articles you’re commenting on, yet you act as if you don’t know what the arguments are. So you’re either playing dumb, or worse, you comment without reading. It’s one or the other.

    Finally!

See, this is why I say you’re playing dumb, or more to the point, lying. This is EXACTLY what we have been saying all along. There is no “finally”, there is no change, and you know that, of course. Why are you pretending otherwise? What is your motive?

Tell that to the ITU staff

Sure? Why do you think I’m afraid to point out that the ITU staff is, in fact, wrong, and it has been proven many times over? Want me to send a screenshot of the email I send?

  33. Joy

Malcom you are believed about the email

about supporting the paper on the post linked re that clean slate remark?
    From last week or so?

I read only the table at the top and that told me everything I needed to know. Reading comments tells me a lot, too. It’s often a good bell weather as to whether to proceed.

One of the readers at the bottom also revealed that most or all of you hadn’t read the article either! The ones that did, wee keeping out of it!

If someone has prior knowledge or information on a given subject then they can easily tell when erroneous claims are being offered as evidence for something else; that further reading is not going to be a fruitful exercise or good use of time and energy.

So no, I don’t necessarily read all any more, I used to, but discovered that there are many hoaxes and trick posts which are there for someone’s edification

  34. Jerry

Much ado about nothing. A tempest in a teapot. And so on….

Look…here’s the thing that has struck me since Day One of this fiasco: If there aren’t bodies piled up on the street corners, if you don’t know more than a handful that even got Covid, much less died from it….

Maybe the complete shutdown of the country wasn’t necessary. Whaddya think?

What a bunch of maroons we have running this world….

  35. Joy

As a non statistician, since we’re into this speaking out of our area of specialty thing:
    Regarding the thin blue line!!!!

This is the argument used when discussing very long time frames such as global temperature over centuries or
longer. Where the ‘data’ itself is less certain or considered proxy data / inferred data. Uncertainty is high, so reading into the data what’ not there is a likely problem. Like reading the tea leaves.

When the rolling averages are given on head counts it does seem to me that there is not uncertainty about that kind of thing and an average is only like what one tends to do with the eye in averaging out peaks and troughs.

(Those peaks and troughs contain days when the data isn’t representing THAT day but is a feature of when the data is input to the system. So weekends are low etc.)

Smoothing out seems reasonable, as Milton Hathaway said. Or rather calling one a model and the other data, to be more accurate.
“Don’;t smooth time series you hockey puck”
was one old post where Briggs explained this.

JH has explained also, that an average is in fact a model so a rose by any other name and all that
The data is not all ‘we’ have for evidence that something unusual is happening regarding infectious disease.

To Jerry’s point the bodies ARE piling high in India despite the denial of it.
That they did in places in Europe, Spain and in latin America seems to be data that ‘we’ throw out.

Jerry is right that there are a lot of bad managers and untruthful powerful leaders taking advantage or neglecting their duty. That was true before anybody heard of Covid.

There are several ways to swing a cat and that’s what most of the people on here are arguing about.
It’s all about power /freedom or lack thereof

Argue that you’d rather the government did nothing, that’s fine but don’t then claim that the bodies wouldn’t be piling high or that there’d be certainty of a good outcome at the end of this, because that is also a hypothetical

As several of the best leaders in this have said,
“there are no great outcomes…There are no easy decisions”

A storm in a teacup is how I described this discussion in. a comment I didn’t post!

  36. Joy

    See this paragraph:
(some of ‘our’ comments are given special treatment)
This is the argument used when discussing very long time frames such as global temperature over centuries or
longer. Where the ‘data’ itself is less certain or considered proxy data / inferred data. Uncertainty is high, so reading into the data what’ not there is a likely problem. Like reading the tea leaves.

“What not”? I never wrote that
what kind of switcheroo software is running?

Not that the paragraph isn’t still clear:
    Here it is again;
“This is the argument used when discussing very long time frames such as global temperature over centuries or
longer. Where the ‘data’ itself is less certain or considered proxy data / inferred data. Uncertainty is high, so reading into the data’ where there is a likely problem, is Like reading the tea leaves.

See the full stop monster’s back, too
It’s been spotted in a few other commenters at times so I know it isn’t happening at this end

  37. Joy

    Reading what’s not there!

  38. Joy

Reading in to the ‘data’ what’s not there!

  39. Johnno

Folks, if you see JOY at the top of any post, please scroll past it.

Joy’s new tactic is now to make numerous posts one after the other as a new annoying way to get attention.

Joy is deliberately pretending to be obtuse. The simple fact is that Joy has been proven over and over again to be embarrassingly wrong after putting all her chips on 00. But unwilling to admit the embarrassment, Joy finds psychological reinforcement in repeating mask mantras over and over again.

Joy clings on to the most useless of points – the tiny insignificant miraculous chance of a percentile that a mask’s fibre will deflect that one out a billion microscopic particles that would’ve been THE CHOSEN ONE that would’ve done you or a hypothetical someone else in.

It’s the elementary idea that a bulletproof vest will save you from the explosive power of a tomahawk missile. Joy will pick through the decapitated limbless body amongst all the wreckage, pick up the bloody separated torso, and point to the few pieces of shrapnel stuck to the vest and go,”See! Bulletproof vests work against ballistic missiles! How can you argue against these percentages?”

So folks, remember that when Vladimir finally has had enough and launches the nukes, Joy will be there campaigning that we should all wear our vests, and our masks, because every little bit helps protect us from our coming radioactive annihilation.

  40. KDKong

My wife (retired RN) had a thought this morning regarding our jabbed relatives. Would a low-dose aspirin regimen help mitigate the clotting effects of the not-vax?

  41. Genie Hughes

If questioned about the vaccine, I tell people I’ve volunteered to be part of the control group, not vaccinated for research purposes. They can’t argue or criticize because of my civic bravery. Working great so far. Probably won’t work with the medical crowd, but work is my pressure place right now.

  42. Joy

    KDKong,
That, strangely enough, was tried as soon as clotting was found to be an effect of covid virus.

The type of clot which is causing the concern, or WAS, is of a type which occurs after Heparin injections.
That is also a ‘blood thinner”, or anti coagulant
In Those kinds of clotting the blood is thinner than normal and clots are caused by platelets clumping together.
Anticoagulents would make no difference in those cases, as they are often the cause of such a very rare reaction./

Normal deep vein clots are those which respond to apspirin clopidogril, Heparin, Warfarin, etc.

So no, but the risks are so incredibly low.

For the one wanting to be part of a study, it’s worth putting your name forward in all seriouslness

    For Johnno,
I just read your comment. You’re very welcome to ignore my posts and I hope you will in future.
I would be interested though, in your response to the link which I’ll have to go back and find.

So no one is in any doubt about this matter of “important new papers”

  43. Joy

    Here it is again,
for those who still give a shiny shoe about truth of effects of mask wearing and where links go to die when their
titles don’t match the article: see to the bottom of the comment section:
