Fear And The Need To Feel Safe: A Coronadoom Tale

So I was walking down the street maskless—which is no harm to anybody since I do not obviously have the disease.

All deaths are COVID deaths. For there is no disease but COVID. Bless be the COVID, destroyer of worlds.

A young man, twenty to thirty, thin, likely a soyboy, was passing. He saw me, put his head against a wall, closed his eyes, and pinched his masked nose, lest he catch a whiff of my exhalation. I passed, he resumed walking.

There is no liberty this young man would not surrender to feel safe. What government would turn down his pleas for feelings of safety?

Few, it turns out. Because this man’s whispering shivering weeping pathetic plea is not alone. His voice is added to by millions and millions, hundreds of millions. Their plaints have been heard! The government has responded.

In acting, government officials feared for their own skins. Not in catching the disease.

All deaths are COVID deaths. For there is no disease but COVID. Bless be the COVID, destroyer of worlds.

No, they feared being blamed for the inevitable unpreventable deaths that occur. Our effeminate culture cannot abide bad things. All bad things are preventable, we think, if only enough people cared. If the inevitable deaths happened in the absence of useless, and even harmful, rules and restrictions, the people would not understand. They would blame the lack of caring. They would require a sacrifice.

Government officials knew and know it would be them. They would be kicked out of their sinecures and money-funneling positions (see e.g. Tony Bobulinsky) and onto the streets, there to mix with the deplorables.

So officials gave orders proving they care, and making sure everybody else had to prove they cared, too. It’s the caring that counts. Intention is all. Feelings create reality.

In our book, we quote (as many do) CS Lewis:

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

We can now see that this observation is only partially true in our crisis of courage. It’s fits only for the midwit bureaucrats and quacks put in charge of formulating the ever-changing lists of new daily rules—such as only unmasking when shoving Mega Corp cereal into your cry hole. All rules are called “the” science, even the stuff the contradicts the other stuff which is also “the” science.

People like Governor Nepotism of California or The Godmother in New York, or even Governor They Laughed At Me In High School of Michigan aren’t punishing us for our good. No. None of them give a damn for the masses under them. They only want to exercise power, to show who is in charge. They can’t be bothered to follow the rules their underlings have set, probably for the simple and good reasons that nobody can keep up with the changes, and they know the rules are nonsense.

The Godmother can toss the sick into nursing homes, which is where the most, and really the only truly vulnerable population for the disease dwell (98% of Canadian deaths were in long-term care homes).

All deaths are COVID deaths. For there is no disease but COVID. Bless be the COVID, destroyer of worlds.

Or dwelt. The Godmother’s idiotic move killed thousands. It didn’t matter. He wrote a book congratulating himself on his perspicacious solution in reducing the surplus population. He’s receiving an Emmy for his badgering press conferences.

Well he might! For it was there The Godmother showed how much he cared. He depth of emotion was great. He was angry, he strut and strode, and even cursed. He said he would do anything if it meant saving just one life.

This is true caring said the adoring masses.

Lo, the masses obediently strapped on their masks. They cheered when it became a crime not to. But they did not know how much they surrendered.

And they are still asking for more control. They still fear. For the disease is still with us, as it ever will be.

All deaths are COVID deaths. For there is no disease but COVID. Bless be the COVID, destroyer of worlds.

Update A headline too good to be true, yet it is: Cuomo calls a sheriff who won’t enforce mask mandate a ‘dictator’.

  1. The perfect example of malignant mercy is “Pope” Francis who is more than willing to sacrifice Catholicism for Communistic humanism and cast his “tenderness” upon us all.

  2. The nutty part of all of this is there is a growing number of TV watchers who are begging for more government control to save them from the deadly virus. In the US the media have done a full-court press on Corona, with a slight interruption having to do with the election and its aftermath. No one cares which star or politician is “self-isolating”–but this type of non-story is reported in panting tones and ratchets up the fear factor. The lesson is–if your favorite movie actor can get it, so can you!

  3. This is what the schools and media have been pushing for generations. And now we’re getting it, good and hard.

We should have hanged the bastards back in the 1950’s. People blame the Boomers, but I blame their parents for not beating the stuffing out of them for the good of the nation.

  4. … receiving an Emmy for his public enlightenment … Andrew Cuomo

… presenting the award … The original Minister of Public Enlightenment Joseph Goebbels

    Joe: WHERE IS MY EMMY?

  5. There is insufficient Thorazine to treat all the Schizophrenia that we face. Add to that the lack of “intellectual capability” and the problem gets larger. My youngest brother recently purchased some property off the shore in Michigan and on that property has arranged to build a small cottage. That cottage is now enclosed and has heat and the men doing the assembly of that dwelling are Amish. The question was asked of one of them during work and conversation concerning the issue of possibly contracting the current “Coronadoom” (Covid-19) virus. His answer was immediate and concise, “We can’t get that virus”. The brother asked how that might be. His response was “We don’t have TV”!

  6. I’m always amazed how “saving the children” or “saving the life of even one child” never extends to closing Planned Parenthood.

  7. Dr. Bruce-

    The Amish rule.

The rest of us are living in the United States of North Covid Korea.

Senator McCarthy was 110% right about Communists.

  8. …”the ever-changing lists of new daily rules—such as only unmasking when shoving Mega Corp cereal into your cry hole.”

    Funny stuff.

I get occasional email updates on coronadoom from my building complex in the Big Wormy Apple. Here’s the latest:

    “Dear Residents:

We have just learned that a resident in the “J” building has tested positive for Coronavirus. The family member who has tested positive is presently in isolation off grounds from HVG for 14 days. We understand that the family members are quarantining in the apartment and are taking all medical precautions mandated by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Precautions your building is taking to prevent the spread of Coronavirus:

    • All common areas including stairwells and all floors will be deep cleaned starting first thing tomorrow morning, Wednesday,11/25.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these difficult times and hope everyone remains calm.

    Thanks.”

“…hope everyone remains calm.” Ha! Can you believe it?! These people are hysterical. ONE PERSON tested positive, not even sick, and they’re all running around clucking like heads with their chicken cut off.

I’m resigning my commission in the human race and applying to become a…, I don’t know, maybe a sea slug, or a nematode, or any other creature with some sense and dignity.

  9. Bruce: ““We can’t get that virus”. The brother asked how that might be. His response was “We don’t have TV”!”

    Hahahahahah — so true!

  10. “A young man, twenty to thirty, thin, likely a soyboy, was passing. He saw me, put his head against a wall, closed his eyes, and pinched his masked nose, lest he catch a whiff of my exhalation. I passed, he resumed walking.”

Thank God people around me don’t act this paranoid and fearful. I pass by people out walking in the park or neighborhood – usually both of us maskless (though I see some paranoiacs walking alone in the open air all muzzled-up) – and have never encountered this sort of reaction. Usually a “hi” or a wave, and that’s it…in other words, acting normal – imagine that!

Today is the 50th anniversary of Yukio Mishima’s dramatic ritual Seppuku/Hara-Kiri after his attempt to takeover the Japanese Defense Ministry. May be the only option left soon for whatever sane people remain in a humanity gone mad with Covid obsession.

  11. The Cliché is true – those who don’t know (or understand) history, are doomed to repeat it. People can’t think critically nor can they turn off the damn black mirror in front of them. Bread and circuses for everyone.

    Hunger Games anyone?

Dean/Briggs: I own a small biz (struggling, of course), and that letter looks eerily similar to the weekly updates from the .gov I receive saying to basically hole up the rest of your life…stop questioning…rat on your neighbor’s biz…we’ll tell you when it’s safe to come out…and, oh, it’s for your own good.

The revolution was fought by about ten percent of those in the colonies. We shouldn’t be surprised that we’re becoming a smaller minority everyday…but it’s just a mask…just 15 days…just 30 days…it’s just a flag…it’s just…

  12. In my humble opinion, there are only two reasons President Trump lost the election:
    Massive, Pervasive Vote Fraud
The Cult of the Face Diaper

I still think the odds greatly favor the first, but the incredible discrepancy in Mail-In vs Election Day results in Pennsylvania give some credence to the second. For instance Trump got about 40% less of the vote total in nearly every county in Mail-in vs Election Day.

Anecdotally, the only people I know that voted for Trump in 2016 and didn’t vote for him in 2020 was because they felt he didn’t stress on a daily basis how vitally important wearing face diapers was to their own personal satisfaction. Real actual science doesn’t matter to these cultists. They are so emotionally investing in believing that they are doing something super duper important and anyone who dare questions the face diaper doesn’t care about their life or especially the lives of their relatives who have high-risk “co-morbidities”.

  13. I pass a few of these scared maskers on my daily morning dog walk. My favorite is the one who pulls his mask up about 30 feet from me. Then as he gets about 20 feet past as is about to walk in the air I was expelling my droplets, he drops the mask. Undoubtedly a Biden voter.

  14. It is not necessary to make another season of the “The Handmaid’s Tale”, we are living it. Ot maybe it is, as so many of us choose to ignore the rules.

  15. A couple of days ago while driving home, I stopped at a red light at a busy T-intersection. I watched as a paper-masked 20-something rode his electric scooter across the intersection at a diagonal. He scootered along the busy street ahead of me, then ran a couple of stop signs before I lost sight of him. But he was wearing his mask, and therefore safe from all dangers.

  16. “Or maybe it is, as so many of us choose to ignore the rules.”

Ignoring the “rules” is the only option for free, sane, intelligent people when the “rules” are mindless, tyrannical diktats being imposed by power-hungry politicians fed by sensationalist, fear-mongering media.

  17. Yikes!! But tender compassion for those in genuine fear of the covid illness.

    God bless, C-Marie

  18. ”May be the only option left soon for whatever sane people remain in a humanity gone mad.”

That’s not an option for a sane person. That’s an option for a madman. The corona crazies will eventually tire of their folly. Disco ended. Aerobics ended. Bikram yoga ended. This too shall pass.

  19. I’m hoping for civilizational collapse just so I can see all these terror filled people reduced to quivering messes, crying on the floor in the fetal position because they’re all withdrawing off their antidepressants. I’m going to enjoy that, you know, before I starve

  20. Personally, I don’t know anyone who has tested positive, but recently heard of someone from a friend who lives in Eastern Oregon in a small town. He was a senior when we were freshmen in high school and his sister was in our class. After receiving the results of the positive test, he went home, put a gun in his mouth and blew his brains out. This really is Cronoadoom we are living in!

  21. Thanks for reiterating the craziness of “caring.” The progressive/leftist does not concern himself with what works, but only with how much a person “cares.” This is a hallmark of postmodern thought, which ( because it assumes there is no objective truth) can only gauge the inherent rightness of a thing by how right it is TO YOU, and the only way it acknowledges that is by how much you “care.” When enough people care very strongly about the same thing, they win. That’s why identity politics works so well for them, it is based on dividing people into groups that CARE with ferocity. Planned Parenthood knows this and its current slogan – “Care. No matter what” is (to its supporters) UNASSAILABLE. it PROVES supporters are better, purer people than anyone else. One you grasp this you grasp that to oppose them you have you will not win with logic and statistics. Sorry Briggs. You need those to rally the reasonable people, but one rallied they have to fight people who are whipped into frenzies by their all-powerful emotions and won’t listen to reason. That is what we have to figure out how to do, without falling into frenzies ourselves.

  23. For the young man, “twenty to thirty, thin, likely a soyboy”, or any one like him. If I were doctor I would prescribe him a set of testicles.

  24. Due to A.G. comment, I looked up the term “soyboy” and learned what it means. When I read this article, I thought the word odd, but passed it by. Now I can say that I am sorry it was used in the article.

We do not know why a person might be thin and worried:

“A young man, twenty to thirty, thin, likely a soyboy, was passing. He saw me, put his head against a wall, closed his eyes, and pinched his masked nose, lest he catch a whiff of my exhalation.

The government has responded.”

Suppositions can be and very often are made, but perhaps that young man just needed to get out and about, and did so while at the same time worked to, say, protect his asthmatic respiratory system … which I can relate to.

Jesus’ compassion needs to be first place in us. I am still working on that and on living lovingkindness as He did when He was here on the earth.

    God bless, C-Marie
