Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

And behold an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the brightness of God shone round about them; and they feared with a great fear. And the angel said to them: Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, that shall be to all the people:

“Her firstborn”: The meaning is, not that she had afterward any other child; but it is a way of speech among the Hebrews, to call them also the firstborn, who are the only children.

For, this day, is born to you a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord, in the city of David. And this shall be a sign unto you. You shall find the infant wrapped in swaddling clothes, and laid in a manger. [13] And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army, praising God, and saying: [14] Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace to men of good will.

Amen. Peace to men of good will, and to you, dear readers, the best present.

So I was looking for something to send you, it being Christmas and all, and found this oldish thing that I don’t recall you covering. California State is now passing out degrees to people focusing on Statistics who can’t even solve quadratic equations: “The changes will permit students who are not pursuing math or science majors to take non-algebra-based math courses to meet “general education” requirements, such as statistics, personal finance or even game theory and computer science.” https://edsource.org/2017/cal-state-drops-intermediate-algebra-requirement-allows-other-math-courses/585595

How long will it be before people who can’t count to 10 on their fingers will be certified to build bridges and jetliners (or are we already perhaps living that nightmare?).

Merry Christmas nonetheless! Have much enjoyed your blog (and book!).

Beautiful!!! Thank you!!! Merry Christmas to you and all!!! We just finished watching The Nativity Story on dvd as the streaming version’s sound makes understanding dialogue very difficult. We found that just using the dvd sound rather than stereo, gave the clearest enunciation of the dialogue. So lovingly well done, a movie!
    God bless, C-Marie
