New Democrat Theme Song

Lifetime Democrat and far-left advocate Linda Ronstadt threw her support behind that party’s nominee Thursday, according to the singer’s agent. Ms Ronstadt donated her Top 40 hit “Poor, Poor Pitiful Me” to the campaign which immediately adopted it as its theme song.

“The lyrics to Ms Ronstadt’s song perfectly embody what the Democrat party is all about,” said campaign spokesperson Simon bar Sinister. “The line ‘Woe, woe is me!; really speaks to all Americans,” he continued.

These thoughts were echoed by The Chosen One himself, when he said, “‘Poor, poor pitiful us’ encapsulates all that is wrong with America. Sure, I’m doing OK, and most of the people I know are doing fine, but there’s a lot of hurt out there—or so I’ve heard. We want people to really feel sorry for themselves, and this song helps tremendously with that goal. The only way that people can be happy is if the government takes care of them. If I take care of them.”

Sinister agreed saying, “The ‘man’ spoken of in the song who ‘really worked me over good’ was clearly George Bush. It’s astonishing Linda would have seen Bush coming so long ago.”

  1. Actually, this song was written by the late Warren Zevon and appears on his eponymous 1976 album. The liner notes for Warren Zevon’s greatest hits album “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” says that “Poor Poor Pitiful Me” was inspired by Desmond Dekker’s “Israelites”. You can take from that what you wish. 😉

It does seem odd that Ms. Ronstadt would donate somebody else’s song.

  2. It’s been an open secret for years that Warren Zevon was actually Linda Ronstadt in drag. A few years ago she tired of her alter ego and retired it permanently.

  3. A big Warren Zevon fan, I prefer “Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner”, a song I recommend to the Republicans.

  4. “At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child – miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosphy of sniveling brats.” — P.J. O’Rourke

  5. From Penn Jillette

I don’t want anyone as president who promises to take care of me. I may be stupid, but I want a chance to try to be a grown-up and take care of my family. Freedom means the freedom to be stupid, and that’s what I want. I don’t want anyone to feel my pain or tell me to ask what we can do for our country, or give us all money and take care of us.

  6. Victims. Dems are always victims. Charlie Rose: “Did the Republicans belittle Obama?” Cry me a river, Charlie, and the answer to your question is yes.

The Dems cast every issue in victimology. Vote for X because he/she is a victim. Tax X because they victimized somebody. Pass a law to restitute the victims. Even when they win they lose, because losing defines them. Losers, with a capital L.

But I apologize for all the above. I surely hurt someone, and whomever that is is perforce my victim, and I therefore created a another Dem. Which is not what I wished to do. I guess I victimized myself. Does this mean I have to become a Dem now, too?
