Today’s post is at The Stream.org.

Junk Science and Cheap Moralism on the Tiber: The Vatican’s top science officer lashes out at critics, defending his alliance with abortion advocates and failing to answer basic questions.

The Vatican has interested itself in global warming, going so far as to stage an invitation-only exhibition on the matter, and to release through the Pontifical Academies of Sciences and Social Sciences the curious document “Climate Change and The Common Good.” The document’s main author is the Chancellor of the Academies, Archbishop Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo…

An article about the man behind the Vatican’s global warming push. He has been jetting around the world telling people global warming will cause abortions, so he has teamed with the UN and Jeffrey Sachs who want to provide more abortions. Go there to read the rest and see if you can make sense of it.

The Stream? Brand New-ish site, still trying to find their audience. Here’s their tag:

The national daily championing freedom, smaller government and human dignity. Offering both original content and the best from across the web, The Stream challenges the worst in the mainstream media while offering a rich and lively source for breaking news, inspiration, analysis and entertainment.

Bonus!

They’ve edited and reprinted my article Gay-conversion Therapy Bans And The Origin Of Homosexual under the New & Improved! title “They Enshrined ‘Homosexual’ as an Identity; Next They Will Ban Gay ‘Conversion’ Therapy“.

Go over and see what else they have. Regular readers will enjoy John Zmirak.

Reminder I’ll be speaking at Heartland’s climate conference in DC in June.

  1. Well, I’m puzzled. If you Google “The Stream” you find they have their own daily show on Al Jazeera.. That’s not my cup of tea.

  2. So is the Catholic church hoping to increase membership by dropping its standards and becoming valueless or drive out the actual believers by preaching false doctrine? I have read this happened in the past and someone had the good sense to reign in the insanity (the 1300’s, I believe). I’m not counting on that save today.

  3. Briggs: Actually, I do! My husband works for a company that builds oil-field buildings. He was also raised in the Catholic church. None of this has any effect on what I write. I cannot be bought! 🙂

  4. A report this morning on EWTN Radio mentioned Galileo and the fact that the Catholic Church got the Science correct and the Theology wrong.

Galileo was asked on several occasions for “proof” of his “theory” as proofs were then accepted or refrain from referring to his theory as TRUTH.

The Church was wrong in its literal interpretation of the text found in the Joshua story.

This was reported this AM on EWTN Radio

  5. Galileo ticked the Church off because the Church (especially the Pope) was very tolerant of his antics until he wrote a pamphlet in vernacular Italian (not the Latin of scholarly works), and one character, who obviously represented the Church and the Scholastic philosophers, he assigned the name Simplicio (‘simpleton’).

When the Church versus Science narrative is told, these little details are usually left off. Or in other words, Galileo went out of his way to provoke a confrontation. Although he wasn’t a fanatic like Giordano Bruno.
