Insanity & Doom Update XIII

Item Thank you to all who joined us at #LBPL for a special #DragQueenStorytime with @xochi_mochi, celebrating #LGBTQHistoryMonth!

The item is encapsulated in the image above. The item title is a tweet from the Long Beach Public Library, which after the publicity was taken down. The library has “Twelve locations in Long Beach, CA to serve you.” The good news is that the vast majority of responses were condemnatory. The bad news is that this sort of evil is becoming commonplace.

Item Apple’s diversity VP apologizes for controversial statement at summit this week

Apple’s VP of inclusion and diversity, Denise Young Smith, made an appearance this week at the One Young World Summit in Colombia and caught fire for some of the statements she made…

At the event this week, Smith was explaining how Apple focuses on diversity and commented that there could be 12 white blue-eyed blonde men in a room who are still diverse:

“Diversity is the human experience,” the Apple executive said. “I get a little bit frustrated when diversity or the term diversity is tagged to the people of color, or the women, or the LGBT.”

“There can be 12 white blue-eyed blonde men in a room and they are going to be diverse too because they’re going to bring a different life experience and life perspective to the conversation,” Smith remarked.

Smith is a black woman. Smith’s comments were sane, but Diversity is not about sanity. It is about strict mandatory rigorously enforced quotas. She forgot that, and was made by her underlings to apologize. Which proves the madness of Diversity does not only originate from the top. Update Smith has subsequently been pushed out.

Item More proof government’s main purpose is now to build bureaucracies.

Tighter ASR regulations, in addition to NEPA (National Environmental Protection Act) and NPA (Nationwide Programmatic Agreement) compliance, can add years to the tower approval process. Add to that the state and local environmental, zoning and land use regulations that many venues have in place, and you may find that it will take three or four years just to get all the approvals needed to build — if you can get them at all.

None of that regulatory compliance is cheap. The cost can easily exceed the cost of the tower or towers. The sad economic reality can well be that it’s just not worth it. The earnings potential of the AM station over five or 10 years may not come close to paying for development of the new site. All of that pushes AM station owners to look at other options, one of which may be shutting the station off and turning in the license.

The story the gentleman paints can be told for any mature industry (the Internet is becoming mature). We have a government of the government, by the government, and for the government.

Item Gay couples must be made welcome at World Meeting of Families, insists bishop

Gay couples must be made welcome at next year’s World Meeting of Families in Ireland, the Catholic Bishop of Limerick has said.

Bishop Brendan Leahy is the first Catholic bishop to publicly reach out to families of all hues, including those of same-sex couples…

“We are living in changing times and family too is changing,” he said…

Bishop Leahy said he was delighted by “the coming together of the full diversity of family”.

“My hope for next year’s event is that it will be for all families; for the traditional family, single parents, people in second relationships, people divorced and remarried, people of great faith and no faith, people of other faiths, people who agree with the Church and those who disagree.”

The pathetic, worn straw man that “certain people” are not welcome at Church is trotted out by the bishop, meaning that some still find that lousy and fallacious argument convincing.

Item Baptist Minister Defends Aborting Her Baby: “God Helped Me Make the Best Decision”

If you read the story, you’ll notice she didn’t say which god. (Hint: it couldn’t have been God.)

Item Orthodox Patriarch warns of approaching end times, asks not to push for revolutionary change

All people who love the Motherland must be together because we are entering a critical period in the course of human civilization. This can already be seen with the naked eye. You have to be blind not to notice the approaching awe-inspiring moments in history that the apostle and evangelist John was talking about in the Book of Revelation.

Say, maybe Ianto Watt was right about the Russian Orthodox church after all.

I feel you are ready to make the leap to liberty.

Sobran’s prescient observation of prevailing strawman politics is spot on, with one exception. The “extremist,” in this context, is the libertarian view — the correct view.

“If you want government to intervene domestically, you’re a liberal. If you want government to intervene overseas, you’re a conservative. If you want government to intervene everywhere, you’re a moderate. If you don’t want government to intervene anywhere, you’re an extremist.”
    ? Joseph Sobran

Once you fully let go of the need for foreign interventions, your view of government will be sound.

“Diversity is not about sanity”, implying that “Diversity” is insane.

I disagree. Diversity is all about unaccountability. An offshoot of simple laziness. Laziness is not insane. Laziness is a basic human instinct, and has advantages for survival. If a human can get something provided without risk or effort on their part, they are way ahead of the game.

Those of us that are on the providing/enabling end of “Diversity” aren’t insane either. Just gullible.
