Insanity & Doom Update VI

Item What’s changed in Britain since same-sex marriage?

Equalities minister Justine Greening, has insisted that churches must be made to: ‘Keep up with modern attitudes‘. Likewise, the Speaker of the House of Commons, a position supposedly defined by its political neutrality, had this to say: I feel we’ll only have proper equal marriage when you can bloody well get married in a church if you want to do so, without having to fight the church for the equality that should be your right’

Children: Across the UK, ‘sex education’ has been transformed and disfigured. TV programmes, aimed at children as young as three, promote ‘gender fluidity’, as an enabler of thoughtfulness and individuality.

At the same time, Ministers have denied worried parents the right to withdraw their children from primary school classes. Meanwhile, ‘outside educators’ teach children about sex positions, ‘satisfying’ pornography consumption and how to masturbate. Concerns regarding STI’s and Promiscuity, are derided as ‘old-fashioned’.

Wait. Did he say Equalities minister? Yes, sir, he did. More is never enough. You will submit—or else.

Item Church should allow same sex marriages and ‘keep up’ with modern world, Justine Greening says

The Equalities Secretary said the church should reflect “modern attitudes” and public opinion as they consider whether to change their stance…

The issue has split the church, who would have to call on the Government to change the law, as progressives push for greater inclusion of gay people and conservative evangelicals resist the changes.

Ms Greening told Sky News’ Sophy Ridge on Sunday: “I think it’s quite important that we recognise that for many churches, including the Church of England, that was something they were not yet willing to have in their own churches.

“I think it is important that the church in a way keeps up and is part of a modern country….

Once you allow yourself an Equalities Secretary (or minister, or director, or whatever), there is no return.

Item What Criminologists Don’t Say, and Why: Monopolized by the Left, academic research on crime gets almost everything wrong.

A quick perusal of Presidential Awards for Distinguished Contributions to Justice, bestowed by the American Society of Criminology (ASC), shows that the winners were primarily rewarded for their left-wing advocacy…

Most criminologists follow a “penal-harm” narrative, which seeks to account for all the ways that the criminal-justice system hinders the lives of offenders and their communities, generating and reinforcing social inequality and harming minorities, since they are the primary targets…

And what about the crime reductions associated with locking up more serious offenders or keeping them behind bars longer? This perennially important policy question was apparently too difficult to answer. After presenting a litany of complex statistical issues that complicate these types of analyses, the authors stated that “we cannot arrive at a precise estimate, or even a modest range of estimates, of the magnitude of the effect of incarceration on crime rates.”

I cut that short, but the article is must-read. In it we learn Truth is hate. And racist.

Item Top Lutheran bishop: If hell exists, ‘I think it’s empty’

“But the relief is [salvation has] been done for us in the love of God through the death and resurrection of Jesus. Which means we don’t have to spend our whole life trying to justify ourselves or make ourselves right . . . or good enough because that’s just a relentless and exhausting and fruitless pursuit that people get into.”…

Her branch of the Lutheran Church — with more than 9,200 congregations and about 3.6 million members in the U.S. and Caribbean — views discrimination, including excluding people because of gender identity, as “contrary to how we understand God’s expansive love, that diversity is actually a gift.”

Eaton, 62, was her church’s first female presiding bishop, chosen in 2013…

Is there a hell?

“There may be, but I think it’s empty.”

Why?

“Jesus was clear” in the Bible that after he was “raised up he will draw all people to himself.”

Coming up on 500 years after the first Lutheran. Here is what he hath wrought. (All markings original in first paragraph.)

Item In Canada, If Your Doctor Thinks Your Death is “Reasonably Foreseeable” He Can Euthanize You

We need only the headline here, which I wish to point out is in error. It is executioner, not “doctor”.

  1. Surely this isn’t the end of it. What’s next? What will our gggg-descendents look back on in fright, astonished at the outrageous foolishness.

  2. The Church of England is the State Church, it is therefore reasonable for the State to have a say in what the Church of England must do regarding marriage.

People are still free to go to a dufferent church, or start their own.

  3. In the town I live in in when I am in the UK there are 3 Anglican churches which roughly correspond to the 3 groups who have lived in a sort of “Don’t ask, don’t tell” relationship for years. The evangelical church seems to be doing very well. The “High”church has been slowly losing members over the past several years but is still a viable congregation. The “Liberal” church has a very small congregation…I’ve no idea how they hang on. The Catholic Church like the evangelical does well. One town over there is a Baptist congregation which I suspect is larger than all the others. This is in the northeast which is rather concervative in attitude, while voting Labour largely because of the greater working class demographic. I don’t suppose this is very representative of the country…Joy might know?
Meanwhile here in Canada the Anglican Church enacts one Liberal policy after another. With each one the numbers get smaller. In the summer of 2019 there will be a second and final vote to adopt Gay Marriage which will almost certainly pass and cause yet another exodus. I no longer consider this well intentioned stupidity there is clearly a Liberal agenda which not only does not care, but probably actively seeks the defection of Anglo- Catholics to Rome, or their own Churches which will not be in communion with Cantebury. The evangelicals can stay…for now.

  4. I have developed a different outlook on such matters. When inanity occurs elsewhere that doesn’t immediately and directly affect me, such as in Europe, or even in the US in a state where I don’t reside, I quietly celebrate. It’s a great opportunity to learn from the mistakes of others, if we possess the maturity and humility to do so.

Underlying this philosophy is a belief that, long term, conservatism works and liberalism fails. The only way for liberalism to survive is by monopoly implementation.

  5. Martin Luther was not the first “Lutheran.” He opposed the idea of forming a new denomination and wanted only to eliminate the corruption of the Church. Followers were of another mind. Luther’s legacy is not what some modern dimwit claims. Appropriating his name after the fact doesn’t earn his endorsement (if it did, I suppose Pope Leo X’s sale of indulgences would have to credit Saint Peter for the malpractice too). Instead it’s the Bible’s availability in the common language that all may read and understand, and that now Christians understand salvation is by faith rather than by purchase.

  6. The Church of England is the State Church, it is therefore reasonable for the State to have a say in what the Church of England must do regarding marriage.

Surely. That was Hank Tudor’s patent intention.

  7. Irrational is now “rational”. The inmates are running the asylum. Keep up the good work, Matt

  8. Irrational is now rational. The inmates are taking over the asylum.

    Keep on keeping on, Matt.

  9. Plantagenet.
“I no longer consider this well intentioned stupidity…”

Yes and the pumpkin instigators are also joining the enemy they claim to dread. They’ve got it coming.

In cathedral cities which are still traditionally conservative,
Labour scored many students by promising on student loans. as they voted in a different constituency as a result of the timing, the Conservatives were hit flattering Labour’s real chances. They actually think they won!

This won’t happen again, as the date will be timed between terms. Many Labour voters didn’t know what Corbin is actually like, they just vote labour by default when they’re not voting UKIP. So Ukip has a little more work to do to hold Conservatives to their task. Media’s stitching up the matter though, just as in America.

The spirituality of people runs deeper than politics. That cannot be altered by decree or law. Or, frankly by liars or media spin.

Whoever thinks they can ‘bloody well get married in a church’ do not know God and they know that, too, so they don’t care. A powerful position short term.

The nearest churches are country churches, one is the oldest wooden church in the world, one where the nursery rhyme twinkle twinkle little star was written, and mentioned in the doomsday book, one just had it’s nine hundred year anniversary. The graveyard is on it’s second layer! Each has bats in the belfry! that are protected by rights you know. They join in with the singing when it’s quiet. (Pipistrals.)
Theydon Garnen lost their vicar to Durham university. Johnathan. He was lovely.

“suffer little children to come unto me”.
That is a solution to the dwindling numbers. Choirs are vital.

I like The Spectator but representative of how things are across England? Not so on those points. There’s a lot of worse trouble that will come to pass and THAT will determine the final fate of these things. People are worrying about war on the streets, not another eleventythousandth law.

Of course people will give up with their church attendance if they are forced to put up with more nonsense and effrontery. The exodus has been happening throughout all of Christendom long before Eutopia’s human rights and equality laws were forced upon them. The church problem runs deeper even than political machinations.

Those bandying it about also disregard Jesus Christ’s clear instruction on hell. They need to learn from the evangelists. Perhaps not the TV ones who take your money.

Sander Is right about the Church of England, too.

  10. “Equalities minister Justine Greening, has insisted that churches must be made to: ‘Keep up with modern attitudes‘. ”

I fear they are not after only the Church of England. All the denominations must be brought under heel.
