The presentations are available on the web. I hunted them down and posted on it at Tammy's site. Think the presentations are of interest to both sides.

I think one of the best times to engage a statistician is before doing research. This is what they always say with marketing. There's a limit to how much magic they can work with crappy data collection, confounding, etc. I think statisticians ought to look at this area more...not just the glory after action analysis part.

[...] Canada’s National Post, in a piece from a little more than a year ago, made a call for more statisticians to be involved in climate change research, much as the American Meteorological Society recently did. It’s relevant again, because the Post article is highlighted today on the indispensable ClimateDebateDaily.com. [...]

If statisticians should be included in the IPCC to produce sound science, they would say the increase of 0,6?C over the last century is indistinguishable from noise in data and natural processes.
And they would advise to dissolve the IPCC ASAP.

Have heart.......I assure you that there are people out here who are absolutely fascinated by statistics. And no, I'm not an actuary, thanks.
I wonder, are you familiar with the online work of La Griffe du Lion, and if you have an opinion of it? I've been following his analyses for some time, but I'm nowhere nearly sophisticated enough at statistics to evaluate his work.

Anyway, I'm very happy you started this blog. Welcome to the online world.
